Kapil Jain's Educational series 29A
On Fidel Castro's life aspect , Part one : Teenaged Castro's letter to US President Roosevelt : For $10 Bill.

Birth : August 13 , 1926,
This letter date : November, 1940,
Start of Revolutions Against US backed Cuban President Fulgencio Batista : 1953.

Dayam Pada Hua

Kapil Jain's Understanding of
Mirza Ghalib's Ghazal
"Dayam Pada Hua,  Tere Dar Par Nahi Hu May"

Door, Entrance
ख़ाक : Ashes, Dust , worthless
पत्थर : Stone

Real Meaning :
I am a human with heart & mind ,
Not a heartless ( stone ) Lying at your door ( on your mercy ) , if this life is such than like ashes ( worthless )

--------------------------------------------

क्यूँ  'गर्दिश-ए-मुदाम' से घबरा न जाए दिल ,
इंसान हूँ , ’प्याला-ओ-सागर' नहीं  हूँ  मैं

क्यूँ  : why
गर्दिश : rotational movement
मुदाम : permanently
गर्दिश-ए-मुदाम : continues bad luck
प्याला : Cup
सागर : Goblet , Wine Cup
प्याला-ओ-सागर : Heartless Ideal items

Being a human , bound to fear ( worried ) with continues bad luck , not like ideal cup & kettle.

--------------------------------------------

या-रब ! ज़माना मुझ को , मिटाता है किस लिए ?
’लौह-ए- जहाँ'  पे , ’हर्फ़-ए-मुक़र्रर’  नहीं  हूँ  मैं

या-रब : Oh - God
ज़माना : era
मिटाता : wipe , erase
लौह : iron
जहाँ  :  world , earth , universe
लौह-ए- जहाँ  : world , universe ( here meaning word etched on iron plate )
हर्फ़ : Alphabet
मुक़र्रर : repeated
हर्फ़-ए-मुक़र्रर : repeated word

Oh God , why society want to erase me ,
I am a fragile soul, henceforth die down itself , not a parmanent word etched on a iron plate to be fixed for centuries. ( Like History Books )

--------------------------------------------

हद  चाहिए  सज़ा  में ,  उक़ूबत  के  वास्ते !
आखिर  गुनाहगार  हूँ , काफिर नहीं  हूँ  मैं

हद  : boundary , limit
सज़ा : punishment
उक़ूबत : persecution
गुनाहगार : guilty
काफिर : Infidel ( here meaning : ultimate crime )

Here Ghalib has Cautioned the Civilizations about the misuse of powers by ruling elite in their waisted intrest.

I understand , to maintain civility in society , proper due persecution required for guilty within limits of prescribed Laws , henceforth here I am merely guilty ( not murderer like criminal who deserve ultimate punishment of hanging ).

--------------------------------------------

किस वास्ते  अज़ीज़ नहीं जानते  मुझे ?
’लाल-ओ-ज़ुमुर्रुद-ओ-जर-ओ-गौहर’ नही  हूँ  मैं

किस : why , which , whom
वास्ते : for the sake of
अज़ीज़ : dear
लाल : ruby
ज़ुमुर्रुद : emerald
जर : gold , money , wealth
गौहर : pearl
लाल-ओ-ज़ुमुर्रुद-ओ-जर-ओ-गौहर : variety of precious stone

This a satire on the society by Ghalib, means society care only for those , which are materialistically valuable.

I am a ordinary man ,
That's why my favorite people admire me,
I am not precious or valuable or a wealthy person like ruby , emerald , gold or pearl.

--------------------------------------------

रखते  हो तुम  क़दम , मेरी  आँखों  से  क्यूँ  दरेग़ ?
रूतबे  में 'महर-ओ-माह' से कम-तर नहीं  हूँ  मैं

क़दम : footstep
दरेग़ : hesitations
रूतबे : status , rank , dignity
महर : scholarship , 2nd : Sun
माह : monthly , 2nd : moon
महर-ओ-माह :
1. scholarship of a month
2. Sun and Moon

Literally two Meaning can be extracted out of this couplet :
First :
Why you try to avoid me as I am inferior to you , in status I am as bright and beautiful as sun and moon.
Second :
Why you try to avoid me as I am inferior to you , in Rank , my scholarship per month is not less than you.

--------------------------------------------

करते हो मुझ को 'मना-ए-क़दम-बोस' किस लिए ?
क्या आसमान  के  भी  बराबर  नहीं  हूँ   मैं

मना : forbidden , banned
क़दम : feet
बोस : kiss
मना-ए-क़दम-बोस : forbidden to kiss feet
Ghalib has derived this couplet from a Hindi Proverb which said
आसमान कदम चूमेगा ( कामयाबी की हद )

Please don't under estimate me ,
I will succeed that skies will be on my feet.

--------------------------------------------

'ग़ालिब'  ’वज़ीफ़ा-ख़्वार’  हो , दो शाह को  दुआ
वो  दिन  गए , कि  कहते  थे , नौकर नहीं  हूँ  मैं

ग़ालिब : Poet 'Mirza Ghalib' referring himself
वज़ीफ़ा : scholarship
ख़्वार : recipient
वज़ीफ़ा-ख़्वार : scholarship recipient
शाह : monarch, king , ruler
दुआ : blessings , prayers , wish

नौकर : servant

Oh Ghalib , Now as you are a scholarship recipient , Say thanks to the King for his kind blessings ,
Old bad days are over when people used to tease me as Servant , Now I'm not.

"The word of Promise" on Indian Currency note

Kapil Jain's Educational Series No. 24
on "The word of Promise" on Indian Currency note,  Nov,  9,  2016

The Promise was on
Indian Currency note till 1967 since British Raj times.

"I promise to pay the bearer on demand The sum of one hundred rupee 100
At any office of issue"

With these promise, it was illegal on part of Government to stop or to make a conditional payment against the said currency note bearing above.

In 1967,  when Late Shri Morarji Desai was finance Minister,  as country was recovering the after effect of Chinese War of 1962 thereafter, Pakistan War 1965.
Indian Government though about the eradication of Hoarding & Black Marketing.

But with the Promise stated with the words 'ON DEMAND' & 'AT ANY OFFICE OF ISSUE' , It was legally impossible to stop its legal tender ability.

Therefore in 1967,  Government removed the words 'ON DEMAND' & 'AT ANY OFFICE OF ISSUE' on the currency notes,
The Promise becomes

"I promise to pay the bearer the sum of One hundred rupee"

Means Government can impose the conditions, time frame, place of payment if any with the above promise.
Same as Hon'ble PM Shri Modi Government did on Nov 8,  2016

Any  further information on this subject,
Most welcome to update.

Thanks
