ज़ुल्मत-कदे में मेरे शब-ए-ग़म का जोश है
इक शमा है दलील-ए-सहर सो ख़मोश है
                                ..... मिर्ज़ा ग़ालिब
                               
The struggle of life ( ज़ुल्मत-कदे : dark night ) through out the painful journey ( शब-ए-ग़म : night of sorrow ) to achieve a success ( सहर  : morning ) was assured, testament, guided by a hope (शमा : candle) , which was also the sole witness, driving force, courage, till the first glimpse of  achievement,
But Alas at the time of fulfilment , The candle was burnt upto finish, the sole passion, drive was consumed, exhausted ( खामोश ) . means the joyous mood was exhausted at the moment of achievement. A tranquillity overlaps.

To the Context :
सारी ज़िन्दगी पूरी ताकत और उमँग से , मसले हल करने में लगे रहे , जिम्मेदारियाँ निभाने में लगे रहे  , बुरे से बुरे हालात के इतने लम्बे सफ़र को भी पार किया ,
फ़िर जब कुछ अच्छा वक़्त आया, कामयाबी आयी , तब तक मिज़ाज़ में एक ठहराव आ गया था या सारी शक्त्ति, उमँग या इच्छाशक्ति चुक गयी , यानी मज़े का अर्थ या वजूद नही बचा , अतः जब मजे कर सके , कर लेने चाहिये

ज़ुल्मत : darkness
कदे : place
ज़ुल्मत-कदे : dark night ( bad phase )
शब-ए-ग़म : night of sorrow ( duration of bad phase )
जोश : zeal, passion (dedication to achieve)
शमा : candle (energy , hope )
दलील : दलील शब्द फ़ारसी में असल मतलब होता ही हैं
"रास्ता दिखाना" , प्रचलित मतलब "तर्क देना"
दलील-ए-सहर : testimony of morning (hope) which is the assurance of the light after darkness.

स्वर्गीय जगजीत सिँह ने यह गज़ल बहुत ही गहराई लिये गायी है ।

काबे में जाँ-ब-लब थे हम दूरी-ए-बुताँ से आए हैं फिर के यारो अब के ख़ुदा के हाँ से ... मीर तक़ी मीर

During the pilgrimage to Kaaba ( काबे ) for Haj , Was almost on dying stage as the last breath touching the lips (जाँ-ब-लब) due to the only fact, the distance / Sepration from beloved (दूरी-ए-बुताँ),

I'm back again, Oh my beloved, ( आए हैं फिर के यारो ), this time with Yes from God to this relationship ( अब के ख़ुदा के हाँ से ),
'Yes' evident as survived almost death conditions, if God would not in conformity , Would have died.

PS : Interesting situation to look into :
Even during Haj pilgrimage, which is moral bestowed on to the every Muslim, 'Mir the poet ' was having lesser affinity towards God viz a viz his beloved.

काबा : काबे : house of God in mecca
जाँ-ब-लब : जिसके प्राण होंठों पर हों, मृतप्राय ,
heart/life in one's mouth, near death.
दूरी-ए-बुताँ
: distance of beloved

दीवाना-वार चाँद से आगे निकल गया ठहरा ना दिल कहीँ तेरी अन्जुमन के बाद ... कैफ़ी आज़मी

The lunatic moves ahead from the circle of his earlier admiration ie Lunar's attraction (the moon's), due to reason witnessed the beauty, much beyond the set benchmark ie beauty of the moon & went into frenzy,
After that lunatic's heart never settled elsewhere ( clear reason being the obsession of "beyond imagination epitome of beauty" )

जो शख्स चाँद की खूबसूरती से आकर्षित हो कर दीवानगी की हद तक आ पहुँचा था , तुझसे मिलने के बाद ही वो चाँद को छोड़ आगे निकल आया और दीवानेपन से आगे बढ़कर ’दीवाना-वार’ हुआ , ज़ाहिर सी बात हैं , तुम्हारी कशिश चाँद से कही ज्यादा हैं, तुझसे मिलने के बाद उसका दिल और कही नही ठहरा ।

चाँद : Moon , सर्वाधिक खूबसूरती का प्रतीक , epitome of beauty
दीवाना : Lunatic , lover, mad , खोया हुआ
दीवाना-वार : Lunatic with frenzy
अन्जुमन : संगति , संघ , साथ रहने

PS :
Lunatic > चाँद की कशिश से दीवाना हुआ शक़्स , जो आम आदमी के दृष्टिकोण में होशो-हवास खो बैठे हो , Lunaticus > Lunatic > lunacy > Lunar

Walk out small distance with everyone who looks smart & speedy (sort of illusion) But soon come to realization about the emptiness of this direction-less speed,
Alas Still to recognize, to find, to adopt my true guide & philosopher.

तेज़-रौ : fast speed
पहचानता : acquaintance, recognize, identify, descry
राहबर : guide, conductor

Absence of beloved is causing the desperation synonymous of a sad & lonely prisoner, Asking an invisible friend(s) to make a request to the morning breeze to act as a messenger to bring some reference of beloved, urgently for God sake.

क़फ़स : cage, prison
यारो : oh my friend(s)
सबा : a gentle breeze, हवा, सुबह की हवा
बहर-ए-ख़ुदा : for God sake
ज़िक्र-ए-यार : mention of the beloved

The ambience was as beautiful as the Smile of Morning of spring season but the moment I reached at my beloved's door step my eyes filled with tears.
(The moment of fulfillment after due hard work , even in the most ideal conditions not necessarily manifested in the joyous representation rather could becomes a conspicuously emotional & solemn affair. )

तबस्सुम : smile
सुब्ह : morning
बहार : spring season
तबस्सुम-ए-सुब्ह-ए-बहार : smile of the morning of spring
मंज़िल : destination
जानाँ : beloved
मंज़िल-ए-जानाँ : destination of beloved

अभी इस तरफ़ न निगाह कर मैं ग़ज़ल की पलकें सँवार लूँ

तुझे आइने में उतार लूँ

मेरी जान , अभी मेरी तरफ़ ना देख क्योंकि मैने तेरे रूप को शब्दों में ढाल कर गज़ल लिख ली है, अब सिर्फ़ शब्दों को कुछ और सँवार लूँ , जैसे तेरी खूबसूरत आँखों में पलकों की साज़-सँवार ,
इस लम्हे में अगर तुम मुझे देखोगी तो मेरा ध्यान गज़ल से हट के तुम्हारी ख़ूबरूरती मे लीन हो जायेगा ,
मेरा मक़सद है जब पाठक यह ग़ज़ल पढ़े तो उसे शब्द दर शब्द तस्वीर बनती दिखाई देनी चाहिये , ( जाहिर है , उस महबूबा की जो पाठक के दिल में बसती है )
